DETAILS
A clothing swap is a fun and smart way to get rid of all the clothes, shoes, and accessories that you never wear. At the same time, you can find new treasures and meet interesting people!
GENERAL:
* Please only bring GOOD quality clothing/textiles/yarns for swapping. Worn, torn, or stained items are fine but please put them in a separate bag. NO UNDERGARMENTS unless they are NEW!
* Please respect other swappers. The swap is about resource SHARING. It is a free marketplace where negative energy is not invited.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Please bring clothing, shoes, or accessories (scarves, hats, bags, etc.) in good condition. The stuff that needs the love that you haven't been able to give it. Please be sure that it's CLEAN*
WHAT NOT TO BRING: anything dirty, stinky, moldy, covered in animal hair, etc.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When you arrive you get a token for each item you bring. You then get to try on and check out everyone else's stuff. To start the exchange fairly, we'll draw names from a hat to take turns to choose one favourite item.
IS THIS A TRADE, AN EVEN SWAP?
We cannot guarantee an even exchange of items or that you will find anything you like or anything in your size. Everyone who participates will have different tastes, sizes, family members, etc. There is no way we can make sure everyone leaves with the same amount of items they came with. You just might not find as many items you like compared to the number of items you brought. You might also find more items you like than the number of items you brought. Feel free to give away tokens
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE ANY CLOTHES TO TRADE? Can I still come to the swap?
Yes you can… but come on - you have stuff to bring. You can also bring hats, shoes, belts, backpacks, fabric, yarn, costumes, books, useful items, etc.
CAN I JUST GRAB ALL THE BEST CLOTHES AND RESELL THEM?
This swap is a small community event, so when people come in with this intention, it is very noticeable. It is best to try this tactic at another swap because you'll be ask to leave. Please be considerate.
CAN ANYONE COME TO THE SWAP?
Everyone is welcome. Women, men, children. Young, mature. Students, skeptics, professionals, amateurs, artists and monsters.
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
BAGS: In addition to the bags that you’ll carry your clothes in, also consider bringing all those plastic/paper shopping bags you’ve been accumulating… OR bring a few cloth bags.
THE MORE, THE BETTER: The more people who come, the more options we have. So invite a friend! Someone who is your size or whose kids are a little bigger than yours.
TRYING THINGS ON: Our swaps are open to women, men, and children. So, for convenience, consider dressing in clothing that will allow you to try things over them. There will be some mirrors and a small change area.
